TEEN around-the-world solo sailer Jessica Watson saw in 2010 with just two albatross for company, some party poppers and treats packed for the occasion by her mother.
And the 16-year-old had just one New Year's resolution: to sail safely back to Sydney this year.
After several days of flying along on a strong Southern Ocean gale and weathering freezing conditions, Jessica hit calm seas and warm weather on Friday, giving her the chance to celebrate New Year's Eve.
She hosted her "wild" party for one aboard Ella's Pink Lady on Friday night - New Year's Eve in her time zone. Two albatross were the only company, keeping her from "getting too frustrated" in the still conditions.
Speaking in her latest video blog, Jessica says: "We have been becalmed for most of the day so it has been a bit of a treat to have clear skies for most of the day and a couple of albatross circling around the Pink Lady, sitting in the water next to us.
"So not great progress but we have been flying along for the last couple of days, so not too worried.
"I think that getting back to Sydney safely will be quite enough of a challenge and my main wish for 2010."
She is about two weeks from rounding Cape Horn, the most southerly point of South America.
