Every Monday, 11-year-old Olivia Reaves collects her weekly allowance of $10 and stores it away to save up for a video game she’s had her eyes on. But on Dec. 21, she decided to donate all of it to The Smile Train – an organization that provides free cleft lip and palate surgery to millions of children in developing countries. Her mother Elise recalls Olivia gathering up the allowance in her hands and literally giving all the money back to her. The story really began a few months ago when Olivia was watching TV and The Smile Train commercial came on. The more she learned, the more she wanted to get involved. "I kept watching it and listening about it," recalled Olivia. "The more I learned about it, the more I felt bad. Sometimes I watch these things and I’ll forget about it and get sucked back into my TV shows but I couldn’t forget about it. It was really, really sad to see these kids – some had two cleft lips on one mouth. I wanted to change this and I said to myself, ‘Not this time. I’m going to make a difference.’"

Great article by Jennifer Nittoso All, so very true!!!! Alas, alack, Alanis … we are coming to the end of my three-part series on the Best (insert list of garbage that pretty much only Jen cares about here) of the Decade. An end to my relentless soul vomiting upon the keyboard. An end to me tricking my editor into paying me for aforementioned vomit. (Editor’s note: See “Top TV Shows” and “Top Inventions” at www.whatsuppub.com for more highly readable upchuck.)
And so our terminal stop on this emotional train originating at station derangement is … the Interweb. I present to you now, (drum roll please) “The Best Websites of the New Millenium” (yeah, yeah I know…some of them were founded in the late ’90s, but they were awesome in the 2000s, so BEAT IT) … as decided by me and my new friends at the asylum.

TEEN around-the-world solo sailer Jessica Watson saw in 2010 with just two albatross for company, some party poppers and treats packed for the occasion by her mother. And the 16-year-old had just one New Year's resolution: to sail safely back to Sydney this year. After several days of flying along on a strong Southern Ocean gale and weathering freezing conditions, Jessica hit calm seas and warm weather on Friday, giving her the chance to celebrate New Year's Eve. She hosted her "wild" party for one aboard Ella's Pink Lady on Friday night - New Year's Eve in her time zone. Two albatross were the only company, keeping her from "getting too frustrated" in the still conditions.

Another Article on Tavi Gevinson - Style Rookie |

CHICAGO -- Tavi Gevinson sat in a west suburban cafe consuming cheese pizza, hot chocolate and a fruit roll-up -- the type of meal you'd expect from a 13-year-old. As she nibbled, a receptionist from her doctor's office came over to say hello, while a waitress wondered aloud if she was related to another teenager in town. "As you can see, my fame is extraordinary here," Tavi said, her 4-foot-6 frame barely visible behind the table. "Seriously, no one around here has any idea who I am." No idea that since she began blogging about fashion from her suburban bedroom at age 11, Tavi has become an international sensation, viewed as one of the most popular -- and controversial -- figures in the world of high fashion. No idea that when she's not studying for a science test, having sleepovers with friends or attending summer camp, the 8th-grader can be found in the front row at New York's Fashion Week, adorning the cover of ultra-hip Pop magazine and helping to launch a new fashion line for Target.
