Michelle Obama may be a part of the First Family, but she's also taking thousands more under her wing. The First Lady is set to make an appearance on an upcoming episode of Nickelodeon's iCarly in order to raise awareness for military families.
The TV show stars Miranda Cosgrove as Carly Shay, a web series star whose Dad is a Navy colonel overseas. In the scheduled episode, Carly and her friends break some rules in order to chat online with her dad on his birthday. Michelle Obama, playing herself, will find out about it and intervene in a positive way.

When Pottermore.com went live on June 16, fans expelliarmused into their shorts over the prospect that J.K. Rowling would be adding to the Harry Potter cannon in a new book, a new short film or something of the like.
Well, this morning the curtain was pulled back on the site, revealing a explanatory video that told you (almost) everything you need to know about Pottermore.
In addition to finally being able to purchase digital copies of every book (wands at the ready, Kindles!), Pottermore will be an interactive fan community where the world of Harry Potter is expanded upon by the readers and, intermittently, the author.

The It gets better project was created by Dan Savage and his partner, Terry, in the wake of the suicides of numerous gay high schoolers last september. The non-profit organization allows members to upload and watch videos of love and support from kids who may be suffering from bullying. The project has received submissions from Lady Gaga, President Barack ObamA, Ke$ha, Anne Hathaway, and many others. Now, punk band Rise Against has collaborated with the It Gets Better Project and relaesed a new single called "Make It Stop (September's Children)" to bring some extra attention to the cause.

 Hey Everyone! My name is Alex and it is so very nice to meet you all. It has been a joy to be apart of the Dekoposh family and I am so excited to share some Tasty Summer Treats that I have in mind. I hope your all having a great start to your summer break...I know I am! Well one of my favorite parts about summer is the amazing food that is in season! So here is a lovely recipe that is a tasty and healthy treat for any time during the day. You are first going to need an adult for some assistance because today you will learn how to make a Fruit Skewer! So make sure that you have plenty of your favorite summer fruits in the house. Some of my favorite are Watermelon, Grapes, Strawberries, and Peaches! So make sure you have fruit and wooden skewers that you can purchase at the store. So make sure the adult helps you cut up the fruits that you have chosen. Now take your wooden skewer and slowly put on the fruit one by one. Its always fun to do a pattern too...like a grape, a chunk of watermelon, a bit of a peach, and a sliced or whole strawberry. It would be smart to make many fruit skewers at one time because then you can put them on a tray and refrigerate them until you are hungry for another one. This tasty treat is perfect for an afternoon snack by the pool and is also very healthy for you. Hope you all have a great week! See ya next time! |

That means it's time for graduations, graduation parties, vacations, and all that fun stuff. Summer is finally around the corner and it's so exciting :) Well as most of you know there's no way that you can leave this blog with out getting some great advice on some more manners. Just add it to the list ;). So this next tip is continued from last week's Rule #29 and is letter B.) here it is..."When you are finished eating, place you napkin on the table to the left of your plate. Place it loosely beside the plate. Don’t
crumple it, because you don’t want to seem untidy. Don’t fold it too neatly, because you don’t want the restaurant to think
you assume they are going to use it again. Never leave your napkin on your chair. This implies that the napkin is too dirty to be left on the table. Also, in some cultures, leaving the napkin on the chair is known as a way to say that you don’t intend to return to the restaurant again."

Meet our June DAPL! Jenna Prandini is an all star to the Clovis community. Her name is heard of all over the Valley and is now set to be heard all over the State. On Saturday June 4th, 2011, Prandini make a huge accomplishment in the CIF State Track Championship Meet. Prandini broke her own personal record by winning three gold medals in the 200, the 100, and in the long jump. She had amazing times of 11.69 seconds for the 100 meter dash, 23.82 seconds in the 200 meter dash, and an unbelievable 19-11 ¾ in the long jump. The smile on Jenna’s face glistened from ear to ear as she had accomplished a total of five gold medals in her high school career, winning two gold medals in the State Track Meet her junior year.
Jenna just recently graduated from Clovis High School serving as ASB President for her senior year. Just a few months ago she signed with Oregon University and will go up north in the fall to run track as a Duck at Oregon! Jenna is our DAPL for the month of June because she has served and given back to the Clovis community all four of her high school years by being involved as a leadership student. She has set an amazing example on good behavior for all athletes and has shown those to the community what great sportsmanship looks like. Congratulations to Jenna Prandini! |

Working with our partners, Mission Serve is organizing a hiring fair for 1,500 veterans and military spouses, 200 companies looking to hire, and a service project that will benefit 1,000 military-connected kids.
